Mareike Bode’s artistic approach centers around a yet to be discovered force of nature - the sense of smell. She uses scents as a means to create versatile and interdisciplinary spaces that engage different olfactory perceptions and odor memories. With the volatility of an olfactory sensation she evokes an impulsive openness within a person herself and between people’s minds. Smelling something awarely or unconsciously triggers directly peoples’ curiosity and reactions which can lead to unpredictable experiences.

Mareike Bode studied graphic design at the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (NL). During her interface and interaction design master’s at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (D) she was part of Smell Lab and then co-founded Scent Club Berlin, a former collective at Spektrum Berlin-Neukölln, giving workshops and exhibiting e.g. at Hamburger Bahnhof, Martin Gropius Bau, Schering Stiftung, Polytech Festival Moscow, MMOMA Moscow. Her solo works were diffused at XJAZZ Festival Berlin, Lobeblock Berlin, Unseen Gallery Berlin, at Collectible Brussels, Belgium and HEB Dallas, US.
